Homemade Brown Gravy
2 Tbsp. butter
2 Tbsp. flour
2 cups water
2 tsp. beef bouillon
1 tsp. black pepper
To make brown gravy, melt butter over medium heat in a medium saucepan. Add flour, stirring constantly, to create a thick paste. Add 1/2 cup of water and stir until thick sauce forms. Add bouillon, black pepper and another 1/2 cup water. Continue to stir until gravy begins to bubble. Add second cup of water and reduce heat to medium low. Simmer for 5 minutes until gravy is fully formed. Reduce heat to low and stir periodically until ready to serve.
Make Dinner:
Place rice, water and vinegar in a medium covered saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium high heat. As soon as rice boils, reduce heat to low. Simmer for 20 minutes. (Chef's Note: For best results, do not remove cover from pan until cooking time is complete.)
Preheat BBQ grill to medium high. While rice is cooking, combine ground sirloin, ketchup, mustard, garlic, salt, onion powder and pepper in a medium mixing bowl. Use hands to combine. Divide meat into 5 equal balls and form each into a 1/2 inch thick hamburger patty. Grill burgers 4-5 minutes per side until well done.
In a medium nonstick skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Fry eggs for 3 minutes per side for over easy, longer for firmer yolks.
To serve, place 1 cup of sticky rice in the center of each of 5 dinner plates. Top rice with 1 sirloin burger per plate. Top each burger with 1 fried egg. Cover with 1/2 cup brown gravy. Serve immediately.
