Ingredients:
1 pound beef bottom round roast sliced 1/4" thin (Chef's Note: Your supermarket butcher will slice it for free!)
2 Tbsp. soy sauce
2 tsp. cornstarch
1 cup chopped onion
2 Tbsp. minced garlic
3 cups broccoli florets
1/2 cup water
3 Tbsp. canola oil
Stir Fry Sauce (Recipe Below)
Sticky Rice (Recipe Below)
Stir Fry Sauce
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 Tbsp. rice vinegar
2 Tbsp. white sesame seeds
2 Tbsp. red chili flakes (optional)
Combine all ingredients in a small mixing bowl.
Make Dinner:
Slice beef into 1 inch strips and place in a large mixing bowl. Add 2 Tbsp. soy sauce, cornstarch, chopped onion, and minced garlic. Marinate for 10 minutes. While beef is marinating, bring 1/2 cup water to a boil in a large frying pan or wok. Add broccoli florets, cover and steam for 5 minutes. Remove from heat, drain water and set broccoli aside to cool.
In the same frying pan or wok in the which the broccoli was steamed, heat 3 Tbsp. canola oil over high heat. Add marinated beef. Saute for 5-7 minutes until beef begins to brown. Add broccoli and stir fry sauce. Saute another 5-7 minutes until sauce begins to thicken. Serve over steamed white sticky rice.
Sticky Rice:
2 cups rice
4 cups water
2 Tbsp. rice vinegar (If all you have is plain white vinegar, use it. It will work just fine.)
Place rice, water and vinegar in saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium high heat. As soon as rice boils, reduce heat to low. Simmer for 20 minutes. Serve immediately.
