1 pound ground mild Italian turkey sausage
1 store bought pizza dough
3/4 cup marinara sauce
1/2 pound sliced pepperoni
3/4 pound grated mozzarella cheese
2 Tbsp. white sesame seeds
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sauté Italian sausage in a large frying pan over medium high heat, 8-10 minutes, stirring often. When cooked through, drain oil and set sausage aside.
Roll pizza dough onto a 13 x 9 cookie sheet. Spread tomato sauce evenly over rolled dough. Layer sauce with sliced pepperoni. Sprinkle pepperoni with browned Italian sausage and grated mozzarella cheese. Starting on one of the longer sides, use fingers to tightly roll pizza dough, completely containing ingredients. Roll into a long 'jelly roll' shape. Place Stromboli seam side down on cookie sheet. Beat egg in a small mixing bowl. Brush top of Stromboli with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for 40-45 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove from oven and allow to rest 5-10 minutes before slicing. Serve with a fresh green salad.
