Ingredients:
8 oz. butter noodles
1 pound of ground beef
1 pound of ground pork
2 Tbsp. dried basil
2 Tbsp. garlic salt
2 tsp. black pepper
3 Tbsp. butter
1 Tbsp. minced garlic
1 medium onion, chopped
3 Tbsp. flour
1 1/2 cups half and half
1 1/2 cups beef broth
1/4 cup chopped fresh chives (optional)
Make Dinner:
Bring 4 quarts of water to a boil in a large saucepan. Add pasta. Boil according to package directions or until al dente, about 10 minutes.
While pasta is cooking, combine ground beef and ground pork in a large mixing bowl. Add basil, garlic salt and pepper. Use hands to mix well. Form ground meat into 1 inch round balls. Heat butter in a large frying pan over medium heat and fry meatballs for 15 minutes. Turn meatballs frequently to keep from sticking. When browned on all sides, remove from pan and set aside.
Add minced garlic and diced onion to remaining butter in pan. Sauté 5 minutes until onions begin to sweat. Add flour, stirring constantly. Add 1 cup half and half and stir until thick sauce forms. Add last 1/2 cup of half and half, stirring often until sauce thickens once again. Add 1 cup beef broth and mix well. Allow gravy to simmer for 4-5 minutes until thickened. Add last 1/2 cup of beef broth and mix well. Add pasta to pan and toss to combine. Serve meatballs atop pasta garnished with fresh chives.
