4 pounds of boneless beef short ribs
Teriyaki Sauce (recipe below)
Sticky Rice (recipe below)
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 cups + 1/2 cup water
2 tsp. minced garlic
8 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 Tbsp. honey
4 Tbsp. corn starch
Mix soy sauce, 2 cups water, minced garlic, brown sugar and honey in a medium saucepan and heat over medium low heat until just bubbly. While sauce is cooking, mix cornstarch and water in separate cup until smooth. Add mixture to sauce. Stir and allow sauce to thicken.
When sauce is ready, heat BBQ to medium high. Brush sauce generously onto beef. Place beef on BBQ and cook over medium high heat for 10 minutes. Continue to brush sauce over beef as it is cooking. The brown sugar in the sauce will caramelize creating crispy brown edges. Serve with sticky rice and remaining teriyaki sauce.
2 cups rice
4 cups water
2 Tbsp. rice vinegar (If all you have is plain white vinegar, use it. It will work.)
Place rice, water and vinegar in a medium covered saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium high heat. As soon as rice boils, reduce heat to low. Simmer for 20 minutes. (Chef's Note: For best results, do not remove cover from pan until cooking time is complete.)
