20 minutes
Makes 8 burgers
Ingredients:
2 pounds ground turkey
1 tsp. onion powder
1 Tbsp. minced garlic
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. yellow mustard
1 Tbsp. ketchup
8 oz. monterey jack cheese
8 whole wheat buns
Make Dinner:
Mix all ingredients in medium mixing bowl. Form patties the size of coffee saucers. Turkey is low in fat and will shrink so make your patties larger than the buns. Spritz a large frying pan (cast iron works best) with canola oil. Cook patties for 6 minutes over medium high heat. Flip patties after 6 minutes. Cover each patty with 1 oz. of monterey jack cheese and cook another 6 minutes, covered, to melt the cheese. Serve each burger on a whole wheat bun and cover with fresh guacamole (See recipe below). Serve with lettuce, tomato, pickle and tortilla chips.
Fresh Guacamole
4 avocadoes
1 roma tomato, chopped
1/2 small onion, chopped
small handful of cilantro, chopped
juice of 1 lime
2 tsp. garlic salt
Open each avocado, remove pit, and scoop meat into medium mixing bowl. Add chopped tomato, onion, cilantro, lime juice and garlic salt. Blend until smooth. Serve with tortilla chips. (This is authentic guacamole from Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. Make it often and bring it to every party. You will be the most popular cook there!)
